Taxes &
Steps for hiring me..
Hi! Please note, you are in charge of learning how to be an “employer”, this guide is simply a reminder of what you should expect for my hiring process. Thank you!
Contact leads you to a short questionnaire that you can submit and I will reach out within 48-72 hrs that I received your email.
Upon contacting you back, we may set up a phone screening to introduce ourselves, discuss cares, discuss contract, & you can expect to be emailed a contract (for review purposes only).
The phone screening will also allow me to take down information on the possible client & what is expected of me so that those duties can be added to the contract.
Reminder: I ONLY provide Non-medical private care. Please refer here for my Rates & Services.
Over the phone, we may decide to continue with the process so at that time we will set up an interview date where I can meet the client (you or someone else). In the interview, we will go over the contract in person to discuss questions and possible additions to it.
Along with discussing the contract, we will discuss taxes and percentages.
The decision is not final on the interview date. I will take up to 14 days to decide if this is a good fit for me, and you will have the same 14 days to think about it. Once the 14 days are over and if you have not decided/responded, the hiring process will end.
To be an “employer”, you must have an EIN number & be registered in WI through WI DOR.
If/when we set up a start-date, this will include Paid Orientation (30 minutes before the first shift begins).
During the orientation, you must provide a W4 form for me to fill out, which I’ve attached here, Forms and Filing information.
W4 form makes me your official employee. (yay!)
Filing my taxes are your responsibility as the employer:
Taxes are to be withheld from my earningseach pay period- Federal income (if applicable), State income (if applicable), Social Security, and Medicare.
Federal tax withholdings have to be agreed upon and are based on my Tax Bracket
State tax withholdings for cash wages of $3000 or more in 2026, range from 3.5% tax to 7.65% tax
On WI DOR, You will file state taxes quarterly (sometimes monthly) using a WT-6 form and -annually- using a WT-7 form. I’ve attached information on these forms here, Forms and Filing Information.
Social Security & Medicare tax withholdings are paid for by both the Employer and Employee (Both parties pay their own total of 7.65% tax - 6.2% for Social Security and 1.45% for Medicare)
Combined total in Social Security & Medicare tax is 15.3%, every pay period.
In 2027, when you file your taxes, you will use the Schedule H form to find the total household employment tax withheld from the year 2026. This form information is here, Forms and Filing information.
